About Maamigin
Our Story
Maamigin was created through the vision of the St. Croix Ojibwe Tribe as a way to support Native artists, celebrate traditional arts, and provide greater access to authentic cultural products and creative supplies.
Since opening its doors in 2024, Maamigin has grown into a destination for artists, crafters, community members, and visitors looking for high-quality beadwork supplies, fabrics, books, handmade goods, and educational resources. The store was built on the belief that creativity is an important part of cultural expression and that traditional art forms deserve to be preserved, shared, and passed on to future generations.
The name Maamigin reflects the store's connection to creativity, craftsmanship, and community. Every item on our shelves is selected with care to support makers, learners, and those who want to deepen their connection to Native arts and culture.
As the store continues to grow, our mission remains the same: to create opportunities for Native artists, provide resources for cultural learning, and offer a welcoming space where people can explore their creativity.

Proudly Connected to the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin
Maamigin is proud to be connected to the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, a federally recognized Ojibwe tribe with deep roots in northwestern Wisconsin.
For generations, Ojibwe people have expressed stories, traditions, teachings, and cultural identity through art, craftsmanship, and community knowledge. Beadwork, sewing, language preservation, and cultural education continue to play an important role in keeping these traditions alive.
Maamigin was established as a way to help support those traditions while creating new opportunities for artists, community members, and future generations. Through the products we carry, the classes we host, and the artists we support, we strive to create meaningful connections between culture, creativity, and community.
We are honored to share a small part of that story with everyone who visits our store, whether you're a tribal member, a lifelong artist, a beginner learning a new skill, or a visitor exploring Native culture for the first time.
